How to Choose a Wireless Cable TV Extender
Let's face it, installing cable TV sucks, with a capital S. Running a new cable line is expensive, hard to do and messy. No one likes crawling around in a hot itchy attic or lying in a damp crawlspace to run thick unsightly coax cable through flooring and walls.
To the surprise of many people, there is now a wireless solution that eliminates the need to run any cables to that extra TV.
Although there have been other less than impressive options available for running cable TV wirelessly, in my opinion there is only one brand that does a good job at doing so… Angeltrax. This explains why you do not see any other brands of wireless cable TV extenders offered at PcPowerZone... Angeltrax is THE ONLY ONE THAT WORKS WELL (in my opinion).
There are 3 models of Angeltrax wireless cable TV systems (aka cable extenders), which have now been discontinued. (We have picked up a new product by Aitech which is the next best thing, but as yet... there is no direct replacement product which features a built in TV tuner for analog applications.)
Before you order your Angeltrax wireless cable TV system, you will first need to figure out which model will best suit your needs.
Analog Cable vs. Digital Cable
The easiest way to tell if you have basic (also known as analog) or digital cable is to check whether or not your cable runs straight to your TV with out a converter box. Most of the time, if you do not use a cable box to convert your cable signal you will be using basic or analog cable (it does not matter how few or how many TV channels that you have).
Digital Cable users will almost always have to use a digital cable converter box. These systems will work differently than analog (or basic) cable systems, as do the satellite compatible version of the Angeltrax wireless cable TV system.
Basic Cable = CATV2400V.II
Digital Cable = CATV2400Plus
Dish Satellite = SATV2400
DirecTV = SATV2400
This Angeltrax model simply splits your cable feed and allows for your remote, wire-less TV to have cable completely independent of your host TV (for analog/basic cable only).
The Angeltrax CATV2400Plus is designed for Digital Cable applications. The transmitter will connect to the RCA/coax output connections on the rear of most cable box's and share the cable output from your cable decoder.
Due to sharing the cable box output, Digital cable users will watch the same TV channel on both the host and wireless cable TV. You have the ability to change the channel from either room but both TV's will display the same channel.
The Angeltrax SATV2400 will work the exact same way as the digital version, the CATV2400Plus. Please read the description for the plus model for further information.
Additional Angeltrax RX2400 Receivers
Additional Angeltrax receivers can be added to any system. Please note, all receivers will show the exact same channel as any other receiver used in any Angeltrax system whether using analog, digital or sat versions of the wireless cable devices.
Running multiple Angeltrax systems
In most cases, any given location will not have any more than 2 clear unused frequencies available for your Angeltrax wireless cable TV system to utilize. For this reason, people that wish to use multiple Angeltrax wireless cable TV systems will be restricted to the use of no more than 2 complete Angeltrax systems. This would consist of two kits with a total of 2 transmitters and 2 receivers.
