How to Choose a Digital Photo Frame

Choosing a Digital Picture Frame

When choosing a Digital Photo frame, there are several factors to consider. Size, brightness, contrast ratio and whether or not the digital picture frame supports video and even MP3 music.

The advantage of having a Digital Photo frame that plays video files is obvious, but not always desirable for some people.

Slide Shows are a feature that most, if not all digital picture frames support. The digital frames that support MP3 music usually allow for the music and slideshow to be coordinated together for a very impressive, dramatic effect.

Screen size can vary from a micro display in a tiny key chain digital photo frame to a massive 17" digital picture frame. Many of the larger, lesser expensive digital frames will have a lower brightness and contrast ratio so make sure to be cautious and check these figures before purchasing. Bigger is not better in many cases!

Find a screen size that is suitable, and then compare the brightness levels. You will want to find as bright of a screen as possible while keeping a high contrast ratio. A contrast ratio of 300:1 is pretty decent, 400:1 being outstanding. The higher the ratio the better the darks will appear in your photos. To low of a ratio will cause your photos to look washed out.

Buyers may commonly enjoy a more detailed picture by purchasing an 8" or larger digital photo frame. Most, if not all LCD digital picture frames over 8 inches in size will utilize a digital LCD panel which usually sports a much higher resolution, and often times are also brighter. Digital picture frames 7 inches and under are usually analog, which usually offer lower resolutions and brightness levels than digital LCD panels.
